A few matters in my own words (i.e. shameless self-praise)

I am a stereotypical researcher in that I am happy to, or even yearn to, learn new things (whether it is about magnetohydrodynamics or growing a herb garden). I am usually quite a quick learner and often apply knowledge from various sources to implement more efficient ways to work. I am also very organised and meticulous (some people might consider me even too pedantic at times).

I am a Linux guy. I gave up Windows when it went sour and have now been a happy linux user for more than a decade. And, if you don't mind me saying so myself, I can do some rather interesting stuff "under the bonnet". One of my great interests lies in programming. I like to write my own little (or not so little) Fortran 90/95 programmes to aid in everyday tasks, or just to have fun. I am no stranger to megalomaniac Excel (or OpenOffice or Gnumeric) spreadsheets either. I also thoroughly enjoy writing web pages (not necessarily the content, but the code). Yes, I am a nerd and very proud of it.

More to come...
